Where do creative ideas come from?

One of the questions we’re asked most often as a creative agency is: “Where do you get your ideas from?”

The honest answer? Anywhere and everywhere.

Creative inspiration doesn’t live in a studio or sit neatly in a sketchbook. It sparks from the unexpected: a colour combination on a food package, the typography on a street sign, a scene from a film or even the way light moves through the trees when we’re out on a dog walk.

Sometimes it’s playful - think of a child’s drawing that captures pure imagination. Sometimes it’s cultural, like a news story that shifts your perspective, or a travel experience that opens up a new way of seeing the world. And often, it’s personal - the books we read, the clothes we wear, or the conversations we have with people around us.

At our boutique agency, we know that the best branding ideas and campaign creativity come from observing the world around us. Inspiration for design can appear anywhere, from patterns in nature to typography on packaging, from everyday objects to experiences while travelling.

The photos you see here are from one of our newly-crowned favourites, a book filled with patterns that we just can’t get enough of. This book has been sitting on a bookshelf at a family member’s home, and probably hasn’t been opened in over twenty years. The shapes and colours within its pages can’t fail to spark creative thinking. But that’s just one example. What excites us most is the mix: the layering of influences from many sources, reimagined into something new.

We believe the best sources of inspiration happen when you’re open to the world - when you look closely at the ordinary and find something extraordinary hiding inside. That’s how we turn everyday observations into bold, original ideas for design and branding.

So the next time someone asks us where we get our creative inspiration, the answer will always be the same. Everywhere.
